EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

 

8PM MONDAY 20TH JULY 2009

 

An Extraordinary General Meeting of Orchardleigh Golf Club, (reformed subsequent to the change of ownership of Orchardleigh Golf Course) will be held on 20th July 2009.  The following motions will be put to the members:

 

  1. That members of the Golf Club endorse the appointment of the acting committee, its members, and the Golf Club Captain and Vice Captain pending an Annual General to be called no later than 31st December 2009.

 

      2.   That the members approve the new Orchardleigh Golf Club Constitution,            (which may be seen on the Orchardleigh website members' section or on   the notice board in the Clubhouse).

Calling All Golfers,
 
At the Lions Fete on the 11th September, 2009 I will have (as in past years) a second hand golf stall.   I sell anything that you want to get rid of from your garage, attic or shed.   Last year thanks to your generous donations I raised £250 for charity.   This year the charity is the Air Ambulance.    Anything you want to donate please contact Any Anderson or my self and I will collect or take from you at the golf club.

Seniors Millennium Tropy

A field of 108 players turned out on Friday 26th June for the 10th Annual seniors ‘Millennium Trophy.’ The weather for the early starters was not good and the whole day looked as if it could have been a wash out, however the thunder and lightning that was forecast came to nothing and from midday on, the rest of the field got around without getting wet.

The winners this year were Taunton&Pickeridge ‘A’ with 148pts and the runners up were Broadstone ‘B’ with 143pts

The raffle for the senior captains charity ‘Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance’ raised £168 and for once all prizes were claimed.

Despite the weather all competitors thought the course was in marvellous condition and thoroughly enjoyed their day.

Orchardleigh Golf Club was designed by Brian Hugget and built during 1994, with much of the construction work undertaken by our existing greenkeeping team.

9thThe course is set in established parkland, which gives a feeling of maturity beyond its years. The 6824 yard par 72 course has been built to a high specification with exceptional USGA quality greens.

Our practice facilities are excellent with full length practice range, practice bunker, chipping and putting greens.

Orchardleigh's parkland course offers 18 spectacular holes routed through mature trees with water coming into play on seven. It certainly is a challenging but rewarding golfing experience. Set amidst the stunning Somerset countryside it's a haven of peace and tranquillity.

ClubhouseOff-course, our clubhouse offers a relaxing and friendly environment in which to enjoy a light snack, meal or drink. There is a separate private room for match and society dining and conference meetings.

Our shop area is carrying an ever-improving range of clubs, clothing and equipment and our PGA Professional staff would be happy to discuss specific personal requirements or place special orders by request. They also provide coaching for all levels of players with our Head Professional.
