General Committee Minutes

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING. Accepted.

MATTERS ARISING. A. Jim Worsley has already started to organise 2011 Competitions and Fixtures list. ( i.e. He has just changed the dates to match next years calendar.)

He has confirmed that there will be no H & B Weekend held this year, instead will be looking to hold a charity event ( Captains Charities Day ) on the 28th. August 2010. Also confirmed that the schedule for 2010 is now complete and ready for printing.

MATTERS ARISING. B. Andy Legg and Dave Dukes are to take on and share the duties of

Competitions/Handicap Secretary. They are going to arrange a meeting with David Nelson so that he can explain to them whats involved. Peter Chafer would like to reinstate the Handicap Committee.

CAPTAINS REPORT. It was proposed that Dave Wye should replace Dave Voller as Mens Section Treasurer. All agreed. Jim reported that the three Captains had a successful “ Drive In “ on

New Years Day, and that raffles held had raised £165 for Dorothy House, and £67 for the Somerset Air Ambulance. He also said that he intends to write a monthly News Letter.

SENIOR CAPTAINS REPORT. Mike reported that the Seniors Christmas Dinner had been a great success with 80 people attending and that they had all supported and enjoyed the New Years celebration. Arrangements for the Senior Open competitions were well in hand. He also reported that the tee times allocated for the Roll Ups were getting very tight because of influx of new members, and asked if extra times could be allocated.

Peter Holloway said that he would consider this, but that they might have to play in four balls.

LADY CAPTAINS REPORT. Di said that she had little to report, but that the Ladies were also finding the Tuesday tee times were getting very full, but that she would try to manage this. She thanked Jim for all his hard work on the fixtures list.

JUNIOR ORGANISER’S REPORT. Sue said that the Juniors were beginning to appear more interested, and that she had arranged some coaching for later in the year. It was agreed that it would be good to contact some of the local schools to try to raise more interest.

COURSE MANAGERS REPORT. Peter reported that the course was holding up very well considering the Arctic weather we had experienced. The greens were being hand cut and sprayed but were very good generally. Drainage around the 12th. needs to be looked at, otherwise the rest of the course working well, although all drainage to be checked , especially the 6th.

SOCIAL EVENTS. Gail reported that the New Years Eve and Burns Night events had both been very successful. A Quiz Night has been arranged for 30th. January and another one 27th. February.

Menus are already in place for Valentine’s Day ( 12th. and 13th. February) and tables already fully booked for the 13th. Some spaces left for the 12th. Mothers Day ( 14th. March ) bookings being taken. Gail said she would like to have another event for March other than Mothers Day, and asked for suggestions.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS. Jim asked why we were playing off the grass tees and not the mats, as then we could play qualifying comps.

Honours Boards. The Senior section would like space for three further Boards, Ladies section undecided. It was agreed there would be enough room to accommodate this. Seniors section to bear the cost. Men and Ladies to advise their decision later. Andy Legg asked if it would be a good idea to have a board showing who is on the General Committee. Agreed. Peter Holloway said he would also like the three Captains photograph’s to be displayed. Jim asked David Nelson if he could give him a list of all the competitions and functions where he will need to be in attendance.

All agreed that the compressor needs attention.
