Payment has to be made by Monday 19 June to confirm attendance and by cash or cheque (payable to “Orchardleigh Golf Club Seniors’ Section”)  to be placed in SENIORS’ Competition box.

If paying by cash, ensure your name is on the envelope.

Matches have been going well with some great games on superb courses with enjoyable company.   It is good to see some new names on the team sheet, so do feel that you can come and join us – whatever your handicap.   The month of May saw draws away to Yeovil and at home to Farrington, and losses at Wells and Hamptworth, but also victories at Bristol and Clifton and against the Ladies (played over 9 holes in the rain!)

Sign up sheets for the next two matches are on the notice board so PLEASE come along and join us.  At the time of writing we still require one more player for the HOME match against Bristol and Clifton on Friday 2nd June at 13.00.

Match Result v Hamptworth (A). 23rd May 2017.

The Seniors travelled to Hamptworth on Tuesday. As in most of our matches we had to give shots and in this particular one nearly 100 shots!. Despite most Orchardleigh players playing to their handicaps only one pair managed to secure a victory. The match result being a victory to Hamptworth by 5 matches to 1 .The course was in superb condition and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the friendly banter both during and after the match.

At this time we still need 1 player for the Home Match against Bristol and Clifton  on Friday 2nd June . If anyone can play please contact Phil Jefferies asap.

Many thanks
Captain Phil

Seniors Match Results for week 15th-19th May 2017

The Seniors continued their program with three matches last week.
On Monday Vice Captain Jim led the team to a convincing win at Bristol and Clifton by 5 matches to 2.

Jim also captained the men's team against  the Ladies on Wednesday which resulted in a win for the men. Unfortunately heavy rain reduced the match to just 9 holes.

In the absence of Seniors Captain Phil, John Scott captained the team at home against Farrington on Friday. In a very close contest the final score was a draw 3 matches each.

The Orchardleigh Seniors Somerset Bowl team travelled to Mendip Springs on Thursday to take on defending champions Stockwood Vale. A very close contest was decided on the third extra hole with Orchardleigh winning by 3 matches to 2 .
Congratulations to team Captain Malcolm Lloyd and all the team who now progress into the Last 16.

RegardsPhil (Captain)

Match Result v Wells (A). 4th May 2017.

The Seniors continued their matches with a visit to Wells on Thursday 4th May. All of the team found the greens very difficult and the course very dry. Only the pair of Bryan Haylett and Ray Clarke managed a win with Captain Phil and John Collings snatching a draw at the last hole. The match result was 5 1/2 - 1 1/2 to Wells.
Please take note of the team sheets on the board as we still need players for most of the upcoming fixtures.
Regards Phil. (Capt)
